5:00 PM at the Henry Hill Visitor Center
Cost: Free to All.
Mode of Transportation:
Carpooling. Consolidation at the visitor center will
take place in order to minimize caravan size.
Uniform of
the Day: Dress for possible
hot & humid weather, wear comfortable walking
shoes; bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
Lunch: Pack your own lunch and bring water.
We are targeting a lunch break around 12:00 PM.
Subject
Matter: The tour follows the
approximate route Maj. Gen. T.J. “Stonewall’ Jackson’s
Wing of the Army of Northern Virginia took on their
historic 44-mile march from the Rappahannock River to
Bristow Station. The two-day flank march around the
right flank of Maj. Gen. John Pope's Army of Virginia
cut the army’s supply and communications line with
Washington and led to the Battle of 2nd Manassas. Our tour will highlight
sites and events associated with Jackson’s march and
the 2nd Manassas Campaign, including some that
many BRCWRT members are not familiar with.
