8. Veterans of Foreign Wars

This is a three-sided shaft located at the national headquarters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Capitol Hill. On each side of the shaft are four bas-reliefs (twelve total) showing scenes from the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, Korea and Vietnam.

"Three of the twelve panels are devoted to the Civil War: 'Appomattox' on the main facade facing Maryland and Constitution Avenues, 'The Confederacy' on the 2nd Street side, and 'The Union' on the back.
