BRCWRT members - The U.S, Congress House Appropriations Committee included two Sections (Sections 442 and 443) in the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies FY 2021 Appropriation Bill, H.R. 7612 on July 14, 2020. These sections direct the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service to:

 1) Section 442 - within 180 days of enactment of this Act, the National Park Service shall remove from display all physical Confederate commemorative works, such as statues, monuments, sculptures, memorials, and plaques, as defined by NPS, Management Policies 2006, §9.6.1; and

2) Section 443 - Within 90 days of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Interior shall submit to the Committee on Appropriations an inventory of all assets under the jurisdiction of the Department of Interior with Confederate names.

On July 22, 2020 the BRCWRT submitted a letter to Virginia’s 11^th District Congressman Gerry Connolly strongly urging him to use his considerable authority and influence to seek removal of those sections from FY 2021 Appropriation Bill, H.R. 7612.  Congressman Connolly letter link
